Camp!

Our Year 5-6 camp at Chosen Valley was awesome! Thank you very much to the parents for their support, and Ms Green for organising such a successful week. It was wonderful to see everyone challenging themselves and having a great time. We are sure everyone slept well on the weekend!

  1. Kia ora,
I reckon that its cool that you guys got to go out and have a proper camp.
We dont get to go out and do stuff like that when we go out on camp.
Next time you should add some more description with the photos and say what you got to do with them.
    Did you enjoy your camp?
    Yours sincerely,
    Te Ora.

We go to a maraes for our camp last year we went to arahura marae on the coast and this year we went to a marae called Takahanga up in Kaikoura.
My favourite parts about camp were going to see the seals and climbing the trees down at the park and going up to Mangamaunu marae.
Did you like sleeping in the little sheds?

We ate our meals in a large hall and I didn't go into the bush because my friend was having trouble sleeping and I wanted to comfort her.

I didn't want to go to the huts because it would be too cold! My favourite part of camp was the silent dinner. In the silent dinner you can't talk, you have to write to each other instead. It was hard but fun!

  5. Kia ora,
Your photos were real good. How was it sleeping on wood? I remember my camp. We went on it last week, it was fun. Where were you staying? We stayed at a Marae. Next time you could go to a Marae for your camp.

I didn't go to the hut, I stayed in the cabins so we had mattresses instead of wood! I think going to a marae for camp sounds awesome. I haven't been to a marae before.

It was kind of comfortable sleeping on wood and fun at the same time! I loved being out in the bush and not sleeping in a cabin and hearing all the night sounds like moreporks. I like it more than the city. I'm the one second from the left in the first photo wearing the camouflage and a black hat.

I didn't sleep in the hut, I stayed back and slept in a cabin on a mattress. I was a bit sore so thought I would not go up to the hut on the last night. The part of the camp I liked most was the flying fox. I hope your camp was fun!

    2. Kia Ora Ethan,
Thanks for answering my questions. Sounds like you have a fun camp! I had 2 camps this year, I went to Curious Cove and Kaikoura. For Curious Cove I did a long walk and on the way down I broke my pinkie finger. It hurt and I had to wait. Also a boat came then I went on 2 ambulance's from Picton to Blenhiem. Then I had to stay at the hospital and the next morning I have a x-ray to see if I broke my bone and I did. Also after that I took a boat back to camp with a adult who looked after me. When I got back I went fishing with a strapped finger and caught 7 spotties (They are fish).
Do you know where your next camp is?

We had mattresses back at the camp, but on the last night those children who were keen went to some huts in the bush to sleep...and yes, they slept on wooden floors! It wasn't a great sleep but it was a great experience1

I Liked the huts you slept in. Was the wood hard to sleep on without a mattress? And was it cold out there? We went to Camp last week, Check out our blog.

The huts were cool but a group of us only slept in them for one night. The rest of the camp we slept on comfortable mattresses. It would have been a bit sore to sleep like that for 3 nights!

That looks like a very interesting and fun camp.

We also just recently went on camp to Kaikoura and it was really fun and we also stayed in a marae which is even better

What activity did you find the most fun?
Is there anything else you did on camp?
How far did you have to travel to get there?
What would you change in the whole camp?

    1. Kia ora Joseph,

My favourite activity was the flying fox. Another thing that was fun was the go-karts. We had to travel 45 minutes to get there. There's nothing I would change about the camp, there was nothing bad! Kaikoura sounds like a cool place for a camp too.
